The National Freedom Front yesterday condemned the suggestion made by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navineetham Pillay to conduct an investigation on alleged war crimes in Sri Lanka.
She had made the statement submitting the Annual Report of the United Nations’ Human Rights Council.
In a statement, the NFF President Wimal Weerawansa said last year too, although a similar proposal was brought in by a Pro LTTE group including Navi Pillay and several Western Countries which are members of the Human Rights Council, other countries which are also members in the same council worked to defeat it. What Navi Pillai and others are trying is to blow life in to dead body of terrorism that promoted secession, the statement said.
“The Western Imperialists have realized that heroic forces succeeded in annihilating completely the LTTE Terrorism that enveloped whole of Sri Lanka. Although it is a stubborn action on the part of Sri Lanka in disregarding the desires of the Pro LTTE Western Countries, rest of the world which detests terrorism, treats it more as a victory of the whole world than a victory of Sri Lanka only in crushing the world’s most ruthless terrorist organization,” Weerawansa said in his statement.
He said however, those Western Countries as well as their stooges are not prepared to accept the defeat. For them, the defeat LTTE received is the defeat of their mercenaries in Sri Lanka. Now they are getting ready to take the revenge for defeating their army of mercenaries.
British Foreign Secretary David Milliband attended the Global Tamil Forum and gave his speech under the title “What are the Provisions for a Separate State in Sri Lanka” thus exhibiting shamelessly to the whole world, the statement accused.
It further accused Navi Pillai also for what it said “bringing back something which was defeated, shamelessly exhibiting their vengeance.”
National Freedom Front while condemning thoroughly these efforts by foreign forces to level charges against Sri Lanka has invited all the patriots to rally round to defeat the conspiracy.
